Mixed Berry Smoothie (Simple + Fresh)

There are a lot of smoothie recipes out there that try to do too much (in my opinion, haha). Protein powders, supplements, ten different add-ins…you know the ones. I get overwhelmed even reading the ingredients. So this one keeps it (real) simple.

This recipe for a mixed berry smoothie is cold, fresh, and exactly what you want when you just need something quick that tastes good and feels a little better than grabbing something packaged.

Why You’ll Love This Smoothie

It’s quick, flexible, and actually tastes like real fruit. You can keep it light and refreshing for summertime or make it a little more filling by adding some plain Greek yogurt. It also works with whatever fruit you have in the fridge, which make it an easy one to make on the daily.

Ingredient Notes

  • The coconut water keeps the smoothie light and naturally sweet without making it heavy.
  • Use either or both strawberries and/or raspberries. The raspberries add a little tang, which is my favorite.
  • The blueberries blance everything out and add a deeper, slightly sweeter flavor.
  • The spinach is optional, but it blends in easily and doesn’t overpower the berries at all, so I say throw it in.
  • The plain Greek yogurt adds creaminess and makes it more filling (plus it has protein, haha).

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender (or a large cup if using an immersion blender).
  2. Blend until smooth and dark colored.
  3. Serve immediately.

Recipe Tips & Notes

  • Add a splash of coconut water if the smoothie is too thick.
  • Add more ice or frozen fruit if it’s too thin.
  • Frozen berries work especially well in this recipe and will make the smoothie thicker.
  • If your berries are a little tart, drizzle in a bit of honey or pure maple syrup in to balance it out.
  • For a craemier smoothie, add some plain Greek yogurt (this is my favorite way to make it).

Storage Recommendations

This smoothie is best right after blending, but you can store it in the fridge for a few hours. Shake or stir before drinking. I don’t recommend freezing it, it just gets weird.
